Ephesians 6: 10-17 is that wonderful passage of scripture where the Apostle Paul reminds us to “put on the whole armor of God”. It is strong. Very practical advice. It is a favorite passage to preach on. It is a frequent passage for Sunday School teachers to teach. It is hard-hitting truth that should be applied by every Christian.
As we begin our 30 days of prayer at Village Bible Church I suggest that we remember also to read on to verses 18-20. In these three verses we learn that putting on the armor is not enough. Paul goes on to say, “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints…and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak”.
Prayer is not just a nice idea. Prayer is essential. What God has called all of us to do is impossible without prayer !
