Kathleen Dalton’s Women’s Bible Study in the book of James will begin tomorrow morning at 10am – at the Greenwood Public Library on Old Meridian – just north of the Greenwood Middle School. This is a 4-week Bible Study – covering James Chapter 1 tomorrow.
Here’s a sample of what they’ll be talking about:
James 1:2-4 “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
- First, even if you want to do as Pastor James says, and consider your trials “all joy”… how do you do it? You can’t just change your feelings from fear and grief to joy. You can’t just make yourself feel joy.
- Second, Pastor James says that the reason you can count these trials as joy is that when your faith is tried, you will develop patience. And that patience will develop completeness in you. That’s nice, I suppose…but really, I’d rather have things like they were before all this began. I can’t see how “patience” and “completeness” are such a prize compared to what I’ve lost.
- Third, I’m in the middle of a horrible trial. I don’t know what to do next. Maybe I can count it joy, and maybe God will fill me with patience and completeness, but I need practical help right now – what do I do today? What do I do tomorrow? What decision do I make?
All Good questions. You are invited to join this Bible study as they discuss the answers. Tuesdays – 10am – Greenwood Public Library. Bring a friend. August 14th through September 11th.
